california dreaming

Pants by Nastygal, Top by TopShop, Shoes by Unif

It's still winter in Toronto and as the days go I get more excited for spring sunshine.  The warm winds and blossoming flowers are never far from my mind.  Especially with my anticipation to Coachella, warm weather is in my near future, whether it be here in Toronto or a week in California.  Outfit ideas and shopping trips these days revolve around upcoming spring events more and more every day.  I cannot wait to say goodbye to layers and say hello to thin fabrics and sunshine.

If you haven't guessed this outfit is spring inspired.  Weather in Toronto has been cold but sunny the past few days so I thought I'd dress up and enjoy the sunshine from inside the house while pretending to be outside in the sun.  Lame I know but when your sick and tired of looking at your spring clothes just hanging there in your closet, playing dress up doesn't seem so bad.

bohemian prints

Jacket by Zara, Pants by My Pet Square, Shoes by Acne

Playing with textures and colours is always a good idea when putting an outfit together that contains one statement piece.  Most of the time I like playing with my patterns, but it's also nice to mute down an outfit for a more casual wear.  The right colours and textures when paired with such a jacket like the above really does make an outfit work.

I picked up the jacket from Zara this past week and it was weird for me to see a jacket like this come out of Zara.  On top of this jacket they had a whole section dedicated to middle eastern/bohemian inspired pieces.  It was hard for me to decide on which piece to grab but this jacket stood out among the rest.  When I got it home I didn't really know what I was going to pair it with although I knew I needed something simple.  As much as I wanted simple I wanted to do something that others probably wouldn't so I added the suede My Pet Square pants to add another dimension to the look.  Topped with my new Acne shoes, I'm quite happy with the whole outfit.  What do you think?
